Britany L. Thomas is the Founder and Director of L.E.A.P., dedicated to providing a safe and inspiring space for creative expression through dance. Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Britany’s love for dance began not in a studio, but in her living room—making up routines and song lyrics to perform for her family. Her passion truly ignited at the age of nine when her grandmother enrolled her in her first dance class, ensuring she stayed active during the summers.
At twelve, Britany was accepted into Stivers School for the Arts, where she was introduced to contemporary, modern, ballet, pointe, and more. There, she honed her technique, stage presence, and understanding of dance history, gaining the strength and confidence that shaped her as a dancer.
Dreaming of a professional dance career, Britany was accepted into her dream school, University of the Arts in Philadelphia. However, due to high tuition costs, she instead pursued a Dance major at Wright State University. Her journey took an unexpected turn when she became a mother at twenty, leading her to step away from college. Though life didn’t unfold as planned, motherhood became a source of motivation—fueling her commitment to her dreams despite the challenges.
Britany’s return to dance came through leading the Praise Dance Team at her church, where she rediscovered the transformative power of movement. Now, with two decades of dance experience and a deep connection to her community, she has seen firsthand the need for creative, healthy outlets.
Through L.E.A.P., Britany is on a mission to share the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual benefits of dance with others. She is passionate about cultivating a space where everyone—regardless of background or skill level—can find joy, healing, and self-expression through movement.
